Marion youth compete at miniature horse show

Two Marion youth showed horses at the World Champion?ship Miniature Horse Show held Sept. 28 through Oct. 5 in the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas.

Cara Martin, 13, and Larry Zieammermann, 7, qualified for the show by competing at the Wichita Classic and the Kansas State Fair shows for miniature horses.

At Fort Worth, Martin placed third in her judging class and received honorable mention in the art contest.

Larry received a ribbon in showmanship and reserve champion in the miniature photo contest and essay contest. He also received grand champion in the photo contest for children age 7 and under.

Both youth showed horses in showmanship, costume and liberty. Martin also showed in country pleasure driving, driving obstacles and halter obstacles.

Their younger brother, Johnny, 4, helped Larry in the costume division. All three participated on Youth Calcutta tournament teams and received medals, backpacks full of goodies and T-shirts.

All three are children of Matt and Melissa Zieammermann. Their competition was made possible through the sponsorship of about two dozen Marion County businesses.
