Marion team wins Hillsboro-Marion scramble

The Marion-based trio of Nicholas Hett, Treg Fawl and Travis Hett finished first among 48 teams at the two-day Hills?boro-Marion three-person scramble Aug. 17-18 by a comfortable nine strokes.

The threesome combined their best-ball hits to score a 57 on the Par 70 course in Hills?boro, then recorded a 55 on the Par 72 course in Marion to claim the title with a total score of 112.

Finishing second was the team of Chad Buchholtz, Dave Watts and Scott Hannaford with a total score of 121. Brad Sher?rard, Trent Ash and Dick Edwards placed third at 122.

Also finishing in the top-five money in the championship flight were Anthony Thiessen, Scott O?Hare and Phillip Thies?sen with a 122, and Doug Dick, Tyler Smith and Devin Dick with a 124.

The winning teams in the next three flights were Matt Hein, Matt Koontz and Bob Brenneman (129) in first flight; John Bauers, John Knaak, Will Wilson (134) in the second flight; and Kurt Kelly, Brady Coffman and Tyler Fromm (139) in the third flight.

Hillsboro Ford sponsored a hole-in-one competition, but the prize went unclaimed.
