Marion home tour draws 360 participants

Some of the 360 people who participated in the 15th annual Marion Christmas Home Tour on Sunday.

The 15th annual Marion Christmas Home Tour was considered a huge success with 360 people attending, said Janet Marler, director of the Marion Library.

?We had people from Kansas City, Dodge City, El Dorado, Salina and Augusta,? she said.

?Everyone really seemed to be in a Happy Christmas mood, and I?m sure the homes and the weather had a lot to do with it.?

The tour included four homes in Marion with this year?s theme, ?A Country Christmas,? she said.

The library?s tree included handmade ornaments by the staff with little lassos and bandanas and denim burlap completing the theme.

Each year, she said, money from the tour benefits library projects.

With work still needed to do on the Santa Fe room, Marler said that?s likely where it will go.

The homes on this year?s tour included Ken and malinda Stuchlik at 2219 Sunrise, Randy and Rachel Collett, 4201?2 Main, Colten and Rachel Olsen, 814 Weldon and Barry Guinn and Molly Smith, 4 Lois Lane.

Visitors enjoyed the Stuchlik?s log cabin and the stages of construction they did.

At the Collett?s home, many people commented on the original wood floors and the open floor plan.

When people walked into the entryway, many noticed the tin ceiling tiles and the many Christmas items around every corner, Marler said.

The Olsens home was filled with Pinterest craft items with many of the projects repurposed wedding decorations and items she used on her special day, she said.

Living at Marion County Park and Lake, visitors enjoyed the many Christmas features of Guinn and Smith?s home.

Visitors commented about the 12-foot Christmas tree in the entryway and the old-fashioned and rustic ornaments.

Marler said she wanted to thank everyone who attended the tour, and to the participants who opened up their homes.
