More than 150 people attended the tour even though temperatures soared to 105 by mid-afternoon. This year’s event was expanded to include one garden in the city of Marion, two at the lake and two in and around the countryside of Florence. Organizers said they were pleased with the turnout.

Bruce said he is familiar with the Marion County Park and Lake area. “We are retired and have an RV,” he said. “We come up here because we really like the people and it’s a safe place with Steve Hudson (superintendent) living right here.”
