Marion County political parties to host nomination convention

There will be a Nomination Convention held by Marion County Democrats on Saturday, Jan. 19 at 10 a.m. at the Marion Community Center, 203 N. Third St., Marion. This Convention will be for the purpose of electing one candidate from each of the two new commissioner districts, 4 and 5.

The requirements for being a candidate is residing in either of the new districts and being a registered Democrat. Only precinct committee persons from the two districts will be eligible to vote for the candidates. The public is invited and welcome to attend. There will be also be a meeting held by Marion County Republicans on Saturday, Jan. 19 at the Marion Community Center at 203 N. Third St in Marion. The meeting will be held on the main floor. At 1 p.m., candidates will be discussed for the new commissioner district 5 and at 1:30 p.m., the new commissioner district 4 will be discussed. After that a meeting will be held to discuss the process of choosing a new Marion County Attorney as Courtney Boehm is moving to a judge position.
