Lincolnvillle celebrates with Octoberfest parade

?United One Last Time? was this year?s motto for the Centre High School Class of 2016. Organizers said this was the fourth year the class was entered in the parade and for the last three years were winners. One of the seniors said they have become their own little family with the majority of students having been together since the first day of kindergarten. Results from the parade were unavailable at press time.

Jennifer Brunzel and her animal friends were one of almost 40 entries at this year?s 29th annual Lincolnville Octoberfest with a Hawaiian theme of ?Okakopa Ho?olaule?a.? Each year, according to organizers, the festival is supported by Prairieland Partners.

The grand marshal at the 2015 Lincolnville Octoberfest was Lucrecia Coss. Organizers said Coss had provided rides for Octoberfest grand marshals for many years. ?We felt it was time to give her the honor,? one organizer said. Coss was riding in a 1987 Chevy Corvette driven by Jeanette Grant. Events started at 7 a.m. with a breakfast sponsored by the Class of 2017 and continued throughout the morning, afternoon and evening. Clearview Band, along with dancing rounded out the evening. Activities ranged from a fun run and children?s games to a hula hoop dance competition and live entertainment on the stage.

The Little Apple Train carried the 2015 Octoberfest royalty in honor of the Hawaiian theme. Representing the Centre Elementary School kindergarten class were Princess Alexandra and Prince Michael. First graders were Princess Ryliegh and Prince Silas. Second and third graders included Princess Trinity and Leah and Prince Owen and Bryan. Fourth graders also had a Princess Leah and Prince Payton.
