Beginning Dec. 1, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Marion Reservoir will begin releasing water as part of the annual Lake Level Management Plan.
The lake level will be dropped to two feet below normal conservation pool. The proposed water release will take about two weeks. With spring rains, the pool will be allowed to regain its normal pool level.
The purpose of the Lake Level Management Plan is to enhance the lake?s fisheries and protect the shoreline from ice damage while negatively impacting the zebra mussels and blue-green algae, according to Neal Whitaker, park ranger.
