Kyle Epp and Charlotte Silhan, both of Hillsboro, competed Saturday in the 4-year-old-division of the National Pedal Pull Competition at the Corn Palace in Mitchell, S.D. Charlotte finished mid-pack or a little better among the girls, while Kyle earned the third-place trophy among the boys. Each group had 30 or more competitors. 
Both Kyle and Charlotte qualified for the nationals by finishing among the top two in their age category at the Kansas State Fair earlier this month. In turn, Kyle qualified for the state fair at the Marion County Fair, and Charlotte qualified during the Redneck in Ramona celebration. Kyle is the son David and Jennifer Epp, and Charlotte is the daughter of Fred and Staci Silhan.
