HighwayWorkPB120035.jpg Motorists traveling between Hillsboro and Marion on U.S. Highway 56 will experience intermittent one-way traffic from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through this week. Bill Fillmore, area superintendent with the Kansas Department of Transportation in District 3, said crews will be adding a fresh layer of rock along the east and west shoulders of the highway. KDOT will be shoring up the 12 miles of shoulder lanes on U.S. HIghway 56, north of Hillsboro at Kansas Highway 15 to U.S. Highway 77 and Kansas Highway 150 junction east of Marion. The project is expected to last through next Friday.?This is routine work,? he said.?Before winter and summer driving, we build up the shoulder lane with rock to keep the drop off at a minimum.? The project cost was unavailable, because some areas might use more rock. Roadwork started Thursday, Nov. 13. For more information, call Fillmore at 620-383-3717.
