The Kansas Food Bank has received a combined gift totaling $5,000 from Ag Service Incorporated of Hillsboro and Land O’ Lakes. The Kansas Food Bank will utilize these funds for its Food 4 Kids program to provide chronically hungry children in Hillsboro and Whitewater weekend packets of food where Ag Service Incorporated has a presence.

“As part of Ag Service Incorporated commitment to provide for the communities where we conduct business, we are pleased to support the Kansas Food Bank through this contribution,” said Mike Kleiber, President, Ag Service Incorporated. “We take great pride in providing the Food Bank with resources to ensure children who experience hunger have access to weekend meals.”

Land O’ Lakes matched the donation from Ag Service Incorporated, which in total will provide 1,000 weekend packets of food.

In Kansas, one in five children is considered food insecure. The food bank currently provides weekend packets via its Food 4 Kids program to over 6,000 children every Friday during the school year. In Hillsboro, 35 children participate in the program. And in Whitewater, 18 children participate.

“We are very thankful to Ag Service and Land O’ Lakes for this generous donation” stated Brian Walker, President and CEO of the Kansas Food Bank. “These funds will help ensure children who experience chronic hunger over the weekend have access to kid friendly, nutritious foods. We are honored to have them support our work and mission.”

The announcement was made at Ag Services in Hillsboro on Tuesday, January 8, 2019.
