HHS senior is Marion County AFA Scholarship winner

Hillsboro High School senior Taylor Nikkel was awarded the 12th annual Marion County Agricul?ture Future of America Scholar?ship Thursday. Presenting the $3,200 award were representatives from each of three county-based sponsors: (from left) Lyman Adams of Cooperative Grain & Supply, Mike Padgett of Central National Bank and Doug Sharp of Midland Farms Services. The lead sponsor, Agriculture Future of America, based in Kansas City, Mo., works to enhance the education and leadership skills of youth in an eight-state region. The AFA scholarship is awarded each year to a graduating senior from Marion County. Nikkel, daughter of Jessie and the late Vincent Nikkel, will be attending Cloud County Community College next fall with the intention of transferring to Kansas State University to major in pre-veterinary science.
