It’s not too early to make plans for the 70th annual Tri-County Free Fair in Herington.
Fair secretary Jennifer Rand said she welcomes calls from people wanting to purchase booth space in the community building or offer sponsorships.
She’s also taking registration for parade entries. This year’s parade will be July 6 in downtown Herington. The theme is “Platinum Flair at the 70th Tri-County Free Fair.” Several entry categories will be offered and prizes awarded.
For registration forms, call Rand at 785-258-3359 (fair office) or 785-258-4286 or visit the fair’s website at tri-countyfair.com
Other Thursday night highlights include the pedal tractor pull for children and a rodeo.
Friday will be the first night of two nights of demolition derby. It will feature lawn mowers and vans.
On Friday, the Chamber of Commerce will host Baa-Baa Bingo for a cash prize. The second night of demolition derby will feature traditional vehicles.
Rand said 4-H and open-class exhibits will be on display, along with commercial exhibits. A beer garden will be offered at the rodeo/demo derby grounds all three nights of the fair.
The annual fair brochure will be available soon, along with early-bird ticket sales for carnival rides. The advance all-you-can-ride tickets cost $20 while during the carnival, they will cost $25.
