A public hearing for a proposed Kansas Water Pollution Control Permit for K-K Ranch, owned by Steven Krispense, near Marion will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 23 at the Marion City Building, 203 N. Third St., Marion.
This proposed permit, according to information from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, is for a waste control system for a confined feeding facility with a capacity for up to 565 head of swine weighing more than 55 pounds.
It is also for 150 head of cattle weighing more than 700 pounds and 650 head of cattle weighing less than 700 pounds.

Anyone who would like to comment on the proposed permit, a spokesperson for KDHE?said, can do so at the public hearing or by submitting a written statement by Sept. 23.
It is recommended that anyone wanting to speak at the hearing supply the hearing officer with a written copy of the testimony the day of the hearing.
The Secretary of KDHE will make a final permit decision after considering the applicable requirements of state statutes and comments received from the public during the hearing process.
