Goessel man to receive alumni award in nursing

Gregg L. Schroeder, Goessel, has been named the recipient of the Outstanding Alumnus Award from the Bethel Deaconess Hospital/Bethel Nursing Alumni Association.

Schroeder will receive the award at the annual Bethel College Alumni Association banquet on campus May 23.

Schroeder was on the Bethel College nursing faculty from 1992-2008, starting as a clinical instructor in nursing and serving over the years as associate and then assistant professor of nursing, interim director of nursing and, from 2005-08, director of nursing.

Schroeder has a certificate in respiratory science from Aims College, Greeley, Colo., and the following degrees in nursing: an associate of arts from Hesston College and bachelor of science degrees from Bethel College and Wichita State University.

His areas of specialization include simulation in nursing education; transcultural nursing; critical care; medical/surgical nursing; research process; and ARNP-CNS (adult).

Schroeder has been a clinical nurse since 2002 for the medical/surgical intensive care unit at Galichia Heart Hospital in Wichita.

Alumni and friends of Bethel are invited to the Alumni Banquet. Those making reservations will receive a discount if they do so with full payment by Friday, May 8.

After that, all regular-price registrations must be received with payment by Wednesday, May 14.
