Florence Lodge turns into hot spot for breakfast

Les Allison, member of the Masonic Lodge 114, Florence, preps Sunday’s breakfast, which is served on the third Sunday of each month between the months of April through October. The meal is served from 7 a.m. until about 1 p.m. The next breakfast is planned for Aug 18, and everyone is welcome to enjoy good food, good friends and good times. Patty Decker / Free PressFrom April through October on the third Sunday of each month, the Masonic Lodge in Florence offers a breakfast for anyone and everyone wanting to help further the organization’s efforts.

But it’s also a great idea for getting together with family and friends over a breakfast meal at a reasonable price, said Les Allison, one of the members.

The breakfast meal is served from 7 a.m. until about 1 p.m., depending on the amount of people who are either still eating or those coming in at the last minute, he said. The meal itself consists of eggs any way someone wants, hash browns, sausage patties, pancakes, complete with butter and syrup, biscuits and gravy, orange juice, coffee or water.

Sunday, Allison said, was a treat for the Masonic Lodge when four “mighty fine looking riders and Harley motorcycles” cruised into Florence for a biker breakfast.

“We want others to ride the group into town for the next breakfast on Aug 18 at the Lodge for the best tasting breakfast in the state,” he said.

All proceeds go to help the lodge in its goal of raising money for scholarships and to help people who, Allison said, “are down on their luck.”

The lodge is located at 417 Main St., downtown Florence.
