Events for all ages planned for Florence?s annual Spring Fling

Events for family members of all ages are being planned for Florence?s annual Spring Fling, Sunday, April 25. The event will be held, rain or shine, in the gym on Dean Street, Florence.

Kids? games start at 3 p.m. and include a duck pond, ring toss, ping-pong target game, bucket bonanza, strike zone, golf zone and a popular cake and book walk. The event also will feature an inflatable moon walk, sponsored by Seacat Do-it-Best Home Center.

Entertainment will be provided by Little Bit & Williell, certified members of the National Clown Association.

A meal will be served at 4:30 p.m. On the menu will be grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, baked beans, chips, dessert, iced tea, lemonade and water. The cost is by donation.

At 5:15 p.m., the ?Jammin? Biscuits? will perform traditional bluegrass and bluegrass gospel music.

The annual cake auction will follow at 6:15 p.m. Cakes, a Kansas State University basketball autographed by Frank Martin, tickets to Kansas City Royals baseball games, and other items will be auctioned.

Tickets for a chance to win the autographed KSU basketball and an Extreme X-140, 140-watt electric scooter ($199 value) can be purchased at Cottonwood Valley Bank in Florence and Marion Dry Cleaning & Laundry and Marion County Record in Marion.

The drawing will be during the event, and the winner does not need to be present.

The event is sponsored by the Florence Labor Day Committee. Proceeds will fund the city?s annual Labor Day celebration.
