Florence is planning its annual Spring Fling for Satur?day, April 28, at the Florence Gym.

The event is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. with carnival games for kids, followed by performance by the award-winning Corry Academy of Irish Dancers from Andover at 4:30 p.m. The group will perform an hour of Irish dances.

The Corry Academy of Irish Dancing is the only traditional Irish dancing school in wichita. It opened its doors in July 2001 with six students and today has 70-plus students ranging in age from 4 to adults.

A meal of smoked pork, hot dogs, baked beans, coleslaw, sheet cake, tea or water will be served at 5:30 p.m. Cost is by donation. A cake auction will follow shortly after the meal. Door prizes will be given away as well.

This event serves as a fund-raiser for the Florence Labor Day Committee in order to raise monies for their September celebration. Although there is no cover charge for the event?there is a small ticket charge for carnival games?the committee is requesting a donation for the meal.
