COVID-19 proper laundry guidelines

Along with frequent hand-washing, make regular laundering of clothing and linens part of your routine to help prevent the spread of COVID_19. Following these guidelines can help keep you and your family safe.

Here are some helpful tips from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Environmental Protection Agency:

  1. Do not shake laundry. This minimizes the possibility of a virus being dispersed through the air.
  2. Wash warm—Dry completely.
  3. If possible, launder using the warmest appropriate water setting for the item.
  4. An ill person’s dirty laundry may be washed with other family member’s items but handle using disposable gloves, then clean hands immediately afterward.
  5. Clean. Disinfect baskets, hampers and carts. Use household cleaners and EPA-registered disinfectants appropriate for the surface, following label instructions. If possible, use a bag liner.
