Cooperative Grain & Supply of Hillsboro and Land O? Lakes Foundation of Minneapolis, Minn., teamed up to provide more than $3,100 to area volunteer fire departments in Canton, Marion and Hillsboro.
Lyman Adams, CG & S manager, said the cash donations are a way to return something back to organizations that do so much for their communities.
During a check presentation ceremony Aug. 24 in Hillsboro, Adams and Board Chairman Lloyd Otte thanked the fire chiefs and firefighters for the services they provide.
Present at the event were fire chiefs Ben Steketee of Hillsboro, Mike Regnier of Marion and Dave Schmidt, Canton Volunteer Fire Department.
Adams said CG&S has participated in the matching-fund program through the Land O? Lakes Foundation since 2004. During that time a total of $18,430 has been distributed to various community organizations.
Those receiving money donations included Tabor College, Hillsboro Community Founda?tion, Marion County 4-H Development Fund, Marion County United Way, Hillsboro Community Hospital, St. Luke Foundation and Kansas 4-H?Foundation.
?We are committed to supporting hometown projects,? Adams said.
