Commissioners meet Friday for monthly payday session

The Marion County Board of Commissioners met Friday for a $1,058, 708 payday session with $426,611 of that amount allotted for wages.

County Clerk Tina Spencer reported regular sales tax received at $59,868 and special jail bond sales tax at $52,244 for merchant sales in November received by the county from the state the end of January.

The commissioners approved changes in a letter they are sending to state senators opposing a state-imposed tax lid on counties.

The commissioners approved plans to proceed with Treanor Architects on getting bids to install storm windows with a design they have approved to install from the northwest around the courthouse in a move that could save in heating and cooling over time plus make a more comfortable working environment.
