Marion County Commis?sioners, during their Feb. 27 payday meeting, notified Jesse Brun?ner, Emergency Medical Services ambulance crew chief at Tampa, to resign his position. They also notified the Tampa ambulance crew to come up with a new crew chief within 72 hours.
If the Tampa crew failed to comply, the commissioners voted 3-0 to have EMS Director Brandy McCarty remove the ambulance vehicle and service in Tampa.
Commission Chairman Dan Holub said Brunner and department personnel under him have been refusing to comply with county rules, including communicating with McCarty.
Commissioner Randy Dallke said he would call the mayor of Tampa to discuss the situation.
The commissioners met in executive session for 35 minutes with County Attor?ney Susan Robson, and included McCarty and EMS Committee Chair Gene Winkler, before announcing their decision about the Tampa crew.
The commissioners were meeting in a $836,563 payday session with a county payroll of $419,413.
County Clerk Tina Spen?cer announced a February regular sales tax receipt of $58,719 and a special jail bond tax of $51,237 for taxes collected in December, received by the state in January, and dispersed to the counties in February.
Following a 15-minute executive session with Planning, Zoning and Environmental Health Director Tonya Richards, Holub said commissioners will inform cities that Richards can advise them on where to seek information on federal flood plains and home habitability issues, but it is not under her job description to do the work for them.
