Commission meets for payday

?

The Marion County Com?mission met June 30, in a $927,575 payday meeting.

County Clerk Carol Maggard said the figure for payout of wages and bills received was higher than usual because of a $113,000 payment for a water tower for the Marion County Lake Improvement District.

The county acts as the agency for paying invoices for county improvement districts such as the lake association and some fire departments, she said.

Maggard announced a ?high normal? receipt of sales taxes from the state, paid in April, collected by the state in May, and distributed to the counties in June, of $49,405.

The commissioners briefly discussed, but made no decisions regarding the status of election equipment stored by the clerk?s office and the availability of used vehicles from the Kansas Department of Transportation for purchase by the road and bridge department.
