Charles completes library course

CertificateRodger Charles, director of the Peabody Township Library, receives a certificate from Carol Barta, assistant director of the North Central Kansas Libraries System, for completing the year-long Applied Public Library Educa?tion course. The ApPLE course is for new library directors and conducted by six regional library systems in Kansas. The curriculum covers topics from customer service and collection development to technology and facility maintenance. The classes were taught by professional librarians from around Kansas, Colorado and Nebraska. Barta presented the certificate and a lapel pin to Charles during the library?s recent board meeting and informed board members how important the accomplishment is for the local library. Statewide, 28 librarians completed the 2013-14 course, receiving certificates at their graduation. These graduates are now professional library directors.
