Braxton Smith, son of Eldon and Kim Smith of Lincolnville, won first place for his floor cloth at the Artful Eye Exhibit held in conjunction with the Centre Elementary School Christmas program Monday, Dec. 5. Art Instructor Pat Wick (right of Braxton) undertook the ambitious project of creating floor cloths with the fourth-graders at Centre. These works of art, which are painted with acrylic paint on canvas, are eventually coated with urethane varnish so they are sturdy enough to be walked on. Wick teaches art once a week to third and fourth graders at Centre Elementary. The children’s artwork is exhibited twice a year?once in December and again in May.
