Alternative Gift Market in Marion biggest yet with $9,000 raisedAutumn Hanson (right) and her daughter, Roxanne, chose ?Primary education for one child for one month,? as their charity at the Alternative Gift Market on Saturday. Money contributed to this cause, Hanson said, will help meet the nutritional and educational needs of children at the Reino De Los Ninos (Kids Kingdom) orphanage.

Now in its third year, the event moved to the Marion Community Center with more than 20 booths participating. ?We, together, raised over $9,000, which is up from last year?s market total of about $7,000. This $9,000 will all go to make this world a kinder, softer, healthier, safer, fairer, cleaner, better place.? As of press time, a breakdown on individual project totals was unavailable.
