Activities enliven holiday spirit in Peabody

More than 35 children enjoyed an old-fashioned candy cane hunt Saturday at Santa Fe Park in Peabody. Even with temperature dipping into the low 30s, Allyson Symonds, Meghan Symonds, Max Masem, Sarah Masem and Erica Diaz, plaid jacket (from left), went through their candy canes to see what prizes were attached. Sheri Lewis, one of the organizers, handed out Peabody bucks and other prizes depending on what the children found. L.H. Brunner of Elbing, who graduated from Peabody High School, agreed to portray Santa Claus. The candy cane hunt was sponsored by the Peabody-Burns Recreation Commission.
