? The Live Wires-Empire Best 4-H Club met at the Canton Fairgrounds building Sunday, April 19. The meeting was called to order by president Lane Wiens. After the flag salute and 4-H Pledge, roll call was answered by ?Name a county in Kansas besides McPherson;? 18 members, five leaders and 11 guests were present.
After minutes from the last meeting were approved, Cash Toews read the treasurer?s report, Isom Marston gave his report and Lane McMannis noted the updated information on Facebook. This year 4Hers will not walk in the May Day parade, but a 4-H booth will be set-up on that day.
The educational tour was discussed and possible dates will be published on Face?book.
Isom moved to have a bake sale during the high school rodeo May 2; the motion was seconded and carried. Lane McMannis moved that the club participate in the duct-tape event at the 4-H fair; the motion was seconded and carried.
For the program this month, Lane McMannis gave a project talk on ?Caring for Poultry.? Hunter Koehn gave a talk on his dragster car.
Next, Lane explained the rules for the team activity of making a ballon tower. Teams were formed and the team of Isom Marston, Reed Wiens, Hunter Koehn and Chase Klinkerman won the activity.
After announcements were read, the meeting was adjourned and the club repeated its motto, ?To Make the Best Better.? The McMannis and Koehn families supplied snacks after the meeting.
