38 Special returning to Marion festival

Marion Chingawassa Days Committee is has announced that the headliner for the traditional Saturday concert will be 38 Special. It will perform in Central Park on Saturday, June 5.

Led by founding members Donnie Van Zant and Don Bames, the veteran band has produced over a dozen Top 40 hits.

38 Special was well received when it appeared at Chingawassa in 2001. This is the first time the Chingawassa Committee has booked a headliner for a return engagement. Committee members said over the years many have asked to have them appear again. This act has generally been considered to be the most well received of all the great Chingawassa shows before or since.

38 Special recently toured with Lynyrd Skynyrd, Hank Williams Jr., Styx, and other classic acts.
