Hillsboro and Marion opened the track and field season with competitive showings at a five-team Central Kansas Track League meet at Marion on Tuesday, April 1.

Hillsboro boys and girls each placed third in their respective divisions while Marion boys took first and the girls second.

The 6-5 and 6-3 victories improved the season record of a young Trojan squad to 4-2 while Marion slipped to 0-4.

A five-run rally in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted Marion to a 7-6 win over Hillsboro and a split of their doubleheader on Friday.

Coming off a dominating 11-0 win in Game 1, the Trojans (3-3) scored single runs in every inning except the second in Game 2 to build a 6-2 lead heading into the Warriors? final at-bat.

Hillsboro and Marion dominated the 10-school Hillsboro Invitational Golf Tournament at the Municipal Golf Course on Friday.

Hillsboro?s Justin Kent and Daniel Kunantaev shot 75 and 76, respectively, to finish 1-2 as individuals and post a 21-stroke victory in the two-man competition.
