This time the spoiler was Wichita Collegiate, who scored two touchdowns in the final 3:53 to sneak a 35-32 victory from the Trojans at Reimer Field.

The Hillsboro volleyball team battled back from the brink of defeat against Nickerson, then pounded Lyons to sweep both ends of their home triangular Tuesday, Sept. 11

The two wins gave the Trojans a 10-2 record for the season and an early lead in league play at 2-0.

<p>Marion High School defensive back Chase Carlson dives in a bid to block a Sterling punt Friday night. Carlson did not get this one, but did make Marion?s biggest play. He came in at quarterback when Mitchell Leppke went out with an injury late in the fourth quarter and threw a 19-yard completion to Justin Heidebrecht.

Sterling defeated the Marion High football team 17-7 in a defensive battle at Marion on Friday night.

When Sterling went three-and-out for its first possession and Marion took a a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter, the Warriors appeared to be heading for a 3-0 start to the season.
