Members of the Marion-Florence FFA chapter competed in two career development events Friday, Feb. 6, at Arkansas City, and a third CDE Feb. 7 in Manhattan.
For the Job Interview CDE Feb. 6, participants were required prior to the event to complete a resume and cover letter for a job they would like to pursue.
At the event, participants were interviewed for the job, then completed a follow-up letter after the interview.
Elizabeth Meyer placed second in the event and Braden Fahey placed 10th.
For the Agricultural Sales CDE Feb. 6, students were required to take a written test, complete an individual sales presentation for a product of their choosing, and complete a team sales presentation for a predetermined product.
Team members from Marion were Fahey, Meyer and Aidan Cairns. In the individual competition, Meyer placed ninth.
At the KSU Agriculture Education Invitational Speech Contest in Manhat?tan, participants gave prepared speeches ranging from two to four minutes in the freshman division to six to eight minutes in the senior division.
Students in the extemporaneous division drew a topic for a speech and prepared the speech in 30 minutes, then presented it. Speeches were required to be about an agricultural topic.
Individually for Marion, Meyer placed second in the extemporaneous division.
Austin Neufeld, Antone Vinduska and Carley Staple?ford competed in the freshman division while Cairns competed in the sophomore division. Meyer competed in the senior and extemporaneous divisions.
