Lisa Geis, Durham, received the award for champion breeding doe at the Tri-State Royal of Champions livestock show in Goodland the first week of August. To qualify, competitors must win at their county fair across three states: Kansas Colorado and Nebraska. Geis, a member of the Tampa Triple T?s 4-H Club, qualified at the Marion County Fair with three animals: a market lamb, market goat and breeding doe. More than 200 head of livestock competed from their respective counties and states for the chance to be named the ?champion of champions.? Geis also claimed second-place prize money with a second doe in an open class that is treated as a ?jackpot? show. The Tri-State Royal is an event that occurs near the conclusion of Northwest Kansas District Free Fair in Goodland.
