Flint Hills RECA selects students for camp

Elizabeth Meyer from Marion High School and Colton Potts from Chase County High School were selected by the Flint Hills Rural Electric Cooperative Association to attend Coop?er?ative Youth Leadership Camp July 11-17 in Steam?boat Springs, Colo.

Meyer and Potts will be among 45 camp participants from Kansas electric cooperatives. They were selected through a process that included an application, interview and quiz.

At the camp, youth partook in daily membership meetings, establish committees and elect a general manager and board of directors.

During the week the youth will tour Fish Creek Falls, Trapper Mine and Craig Power Plant; visit Steamboat Springs; spend a day river rafting; and enjoy camp various activities.

Flint Hills RECA sponsors the trip for two students every year.
