Tampa Community Association now Tampa PRIDE

The Tampa Community Association voted June 24 to become Tampa PRIDE.

?We have been accepted as a member of Kansas PRIDE, whose program is a volunteer grassroots effort to improve the quality of life in Kansas communities,? said Carole Spohn, TCA member.

?TCA was founded in July 2007, and volunteers have worked to improve our community. With the assistanace and encouragement of Kansas PRIDE, we hope to do even more.?

Spohn said Tampa PRIDE has also accepted the responsibility for the volunteer work previously done by the Tampa Lions Club, which disbanded at the end of 2009.

Tampa PRIDE now runs the concession stand at the Tampa ball field and also sponsored the annual Tampa Pancake Feed.

The Lions Club-sponsored pop machines continue to be available to the community through Tampa PRIDE, Spohn said.

Plans include Main Street and park improvements. Flowers have been planted in containers on Main. A new park will be built next to the ball field when grant funding can be obtained.

The Tampa Farmer?s Market, another Tampa PRIDE activity, is open from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. each Wedndesday evening on Main Street and in the Tampa Senior Center.

Spohn said additional announcements from Tampa PRIDE will be coming later.
