Two scholarships are available from St. Luke Hospital to all residents of Hospital District No. 1, Marion County.
The applicants must plan to pursue a career in a health-care setting. Any inquiries may be directed to Mike Norris, marketing director, at 620-382-2177, ext. 219.
Applications for scholarships will be taken until March 31. Application forms may be obtained from the business office at St. Luke Hospital, 535 S. Freeborn, Marion,, or completed online at slhmarion.org.
If not submitted online, a completed application form, along with required writing and transcripts, must be submitted to St. Luke Hospital, attention Mike Norris.
All applications must include a fully completed scholarship application, a transcript of school grades and ACT scores, two letters of recommendation from persons not related to the applicant and a one-page personal essay.
The scholarship committee meets in March of each year to select the scholarship recipients.
The awards are made on the basis of academic achievement, community involvement, extracurricular activities, the individual essay, the accuracy of the application and recommendation letters.
If an applicant is selected to receive a scholarship, the committee will notify the applicant of the selection. The applicant will then notify St. Luke Hospital of his or her acceptance into college and request the scholarship payment.
Norris will arrange for the presentation of the check. All checks are made out jointly to the awardee and the college the student plans to attend.
