How to enhance your business in tough economic times will be the topic for the first Free Press Biz Expo for Marion County business owners and mangers.

The speaker will be Tim Smith, a nationally known business consultant who was featured last year at a similar event in North Newton.

The local event will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.Wednesday, Feb. 10, in the Wohlgemuth Music Education Center on the campus of Tabor College. Advance registration is required, but there is no fee to attend.

The first session with Smith, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., is intended to be an informal roundtable discussion where Smith will welcome questions and ideas from participants.

Two sessions are planned for the afternoon. The first one, titled ?How to Retain and Increase Your Customer Traffic in Tough Times,? will start at 1:30 p.m.

The second session, titled ?How to Thrive and Survive in Challenging Business Times,? will begin at 3:15 p.m..

Participants are invited to register online at hillsborofreepress.com by clicking on the skyscraper ad located on the left side of the home page.

Seven exhibitors have committed to attend the event and will be available when seminars are not in session.

The event is sponsored by the Hillsboro Free Press.

?We felt it would be worthwhile for our advertisers and other Marion County area business owners and staff to hear Tim Smith bring information they can use to make their businesses stronger in the tough economy we are currently facing,? said Joel Klaassen, publisher.

?Free Press staffers have heard Smith a number of times during the past year and are eager to hear more,? he added. ?He brings high energy and also entertains along with his message that hits the target.?
