After owning Sorb Computers in Hillsboro for three years, Marc Penner has sold the business to Brad Schweitzer of Hesston.

The ownership change became official Feb. 1.

?I?ve been working with Loren Funk with Waddell and Reed Financial Services for about a year and a half,? Penner said. ?As that has grown and has been taking more and more time, I felt like now is the best time for me to take that jump.

?I?ve been literally straddling Main Street with two businesses, and I just need to focus on the one across the street.?

For the moment Schweitzer doesn?t foresee major changes to the business.

?Marc has a good operation here,? he said.

The hours will remain from noon to 5 p.m., although Schweitzer would like to adjust the hours in the future.

?Eventually I?d like to move (the hours) a little bit later in the evening for convenience,? he said.

He also plans to add basic computer instruction courses, and hopes to add an employee sometime this year.

Schweitzer received his college degree in computer technology, and has stayed current with the field for 25 years. Prior to taking ownership of Sorb, Schweitzer worked in construction.

?I?ve always liked computers,? he said.

?I was looking to start doing more computer consulting and repair,? he added. ?Marc?s offer came at the perfect time and I decided to go with it. I?m really looking forward to it.?

Sorb Computers is located in the Insurance Center office complex at 105 S. Main.
