Roy highlights all that TC Wireless has to offer

As Hillsboro’s Economic Development Director, one of the things I’ve wanted to do since I arrived in June of 2017, is to do a business spotlight article. My intent with this series of articles is to explore the businesses we have right here in Hillsboro and the surrounding area to help bring awareness to services they offer. My first, in what I hope will be many articles, will spotlight TC Wireless, an authorized agent and part owner of Nex-Tech Wireless.

I often get asked by the residents of Hillsboro “What is TC Wireless and what do they sell?” TC Wireless opened its Hillsboro location in June of 2017. TCT, the owner of TC Wireless, has been in business since 1963. TC Wireless has 2 full-time employees here in Hillsboro and 56 employees company-wide. Nex-Tech Wireless is an independent cell phone company headquartered out of Hays, Kansas. It is owned by three Rural Telecommunication Companies: Rural Telephone/Nex-Tech, based out of Lenora, Kansas; Golden Belt Telephone, based out of Rush Center, Kansas; and TCT, parent company to TC Wireless. In 2018, TC Wireless bought Friesen Technology. With this purchase, the company obtained Brandon Friesen to serve as an IT consultant and PC/Laptop repair.

TC Wireless’s primary service is Nex-Tech Wireless cell phone plans. I have been using a Nex-Tech Wireless phone since 2007. Since that time, I have been across the country from the Pacific Northwest, to Texas, and to Minnesota, and have never really had any problems with the phone or service. If you would have a problem, the store is located at 323 N. Ash (across from Casey’s General Store). Melany Ink is the assistant store manager and is very knowledgeable in assisting customers. You’re also able to contact their customer service, which is located in Hays, Kansas. If you are interested in their cell phone plan stop in and talk to Melany to try out a demo phone.

TC Wireless is a lot more than just a place to get a cell phone. They also offer all kinds of electronics, including Smart TV’s, Printers, Printer Ink, Streaming Devices, Cell Phone accessories, and much more. Be sure to stop in and see all that they offer. If they don’t have it I’m sure they can get it ordered for you.

I really have to give TC Wireless and TCT a shout-out for really caring about the communities they serve. Melany who lives in Council Grove and commutes to Hillsboro has commented several times to me about how much she enjoys Hillsboro. I am hopeful that she will choose to move her family here. If you get a chance put in a good word with her on how great a community Hillsboro is.

Anthony Roy is the Economic Development Director for the City of Hillsboro. He will provide short first-person business profiles occasionally for the paper.
