Pixius increases county coverage for faster rural Internet service

Pixius Communications has established additional towers in Marion County that will provide high-speed Internet service to most rural residences.

The Wichita-based company was invited in May to provide Internet service to the communities in Peabody and Aulne.

The company has since added towers in Burns,?Hillsboro, Lehigh and Florence, according to Jackie Kodrich, residential sales representative.

The system is based on line of sight. In most cases, Pixius will be transmitting its Internet signal to customers from atop a local grain elevator.

Kodrich emphasized the company?s reliability.

?I know there are a lot of satellite services out there,? she said. ?We are unaffected by weather. That?s one of our advantages. And we can also provide the speed. A lot of people out in the country are on dial-up still, and we?re significantly faster than that.?

Rural residents can contact Kodrich at 316-219-8562 for information about packages and prices. Potential business customers can contact Tammy Beckman at 316-219-8563.
