Cheri Barton began working Monday as the new chief executive officer at Hillsboro Commun?ity Hospital.
Barton has been in a similar position for the past three years at the Seiling (Okla.) Community Hospital, a general medical and surgical hospital with 18 beds, according to Gordon Docking, chief operating officer for HMC/CAH Consolidated Inc., which owns both hospitals.
Prior to that, Barton had worked for HMC/CAH in Ironton, Mo., and Oswego, Kan.
?She is a (registered nurse) by background, so she?ll bring a little different perspective and approach to the position,? Docking said.
?She?s very, very good?very people-oriented. And I know she will be active in the community.
?She has already rented a house on Ash Street and is very excited to get started,? he added.
Barton succeeds Mike Ryan, who was relieved of his responsibilities Sept. 24 after 11 years at the hospital.
