Lions pass out trees for Arbor Day

HES Arbor DaySue Funk (left) and Elfrieda Funk, representing the Hillsboro Lions Club, prepare to distribute tree seedlings to fourth-graders at Hillsboro Elementary School on Kansas Arbor Day, April 25. The effort was part of the Fourth Grade Foresters USA program, which has distributed more than 505,000 trees in 6,800 schools since its inception in 2006. The Hills?boro Lions Club is one of 2,591 project sponsors across the country. Fourth-graders are chosen because ?at that age they are becoming more responsible and may follow through with planting,? according to Elfrieda Funk.
