Vogel Design, a Hillsboro-based digital and print design studio operated by David Vogel, was honored this month with 10 2017 American Graphic Design Award certificates, recognizing outstanding new work and design excellence.
The national competition is sponsored by Graphic Design USA magazine in New York City.
For more than five decades, GDUSA has sponsored a range of national design competitions, and its American Graphic Design Awards is the original and the flagship, open to the entire creative community: design firms, ad agencies, corporations, non-profits, institutions and more. It honors outstanding new work in 25 categories from print and packaging to Internet and interactive design.
“My mission is to always create unique and effective work for my customers,” Vogel said. “While it’s exciting to be recognized by my peers for the quality of my work, it’s more gratifying to have the confirmation that I’m meeting my own expectations in providing high-quality design work to local businesses and organizations.”
Vogel is a 2008 graduate of Hillsboro High School and a 2012 graduate of Tabor College. He started Vogel Design as his full-time occupation in spring 2014.
Vogel Design, a member of the Hillsboro and Newton Chambers of Commerce, specializes in web design and mobile app development for small business, and also offers a wide range of design and print services.
Nearly 10,000 entries were submitted in the 2017 contest, and a highly selective 15 percent were chosen to be recognized, GDUSA editor and publisher Gordon Kaye said, also noting that one organization receiving multiple awards is rare. This is the fourth year Vogel Design has entered the competition, having received recognition for 16 pieces prior.
The 10 certificates of excellence received by Vogel Design recognize the following entries:
• website design for Container Services Inc., Hillsboro; Faith & Life Bookstore, Newton; Glanzer Pro Audio, Hillsboro; Miles by Design, Marion; McPherson Pet Resort and New Horizons RV, Junction City.
• logo designs for the Hillsboro Young Professionals’ 2017 Glow Run and Orchard Haven Neighborhood, Hillsboro;
• artwork for Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church’s “Running on Empty” sermon series and the 2017 Hutchinson Middle School value card fundraiser.
