dinner draws about 150 people
About 150 people attended the annual Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce Banquet Monday, Jan. 25, at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church. Outgoing president Cynthia Fleming introduced David Vogel, new president. Re?tiring board members Bonnie Funk, Derek Hamm and Dick Tippin were acknowledged for their service. This year?s board of directors include Vogel, Jeanne Groves, vice-president; Marion Regier, treasurer; Angie Fleming, Dale Frantz, Jared Jost, Marie Kessler, Rob Scott and Elizabeth Wine. Convention & Visitors Bureau representatives Peggy Goertzen and Sue Wadkins, along with Deb Ewert and Marcella Mohn, Arts and Crafts representatives, were also introduced. Forty-three items were donated to the silent auction with all proceeds going to benefit the Chamber. Membership for 2015 totaled 108 businesses, organizations or individuals. Donald Blakeslee, archaeological anthropologist at Wichita State University, was the speaker. His presentation focused on Kansas in the era before Christopher Columbus.
