Free lecture will address post-9/11 civil religion

The public is invited to attend a guest lecture by Laura Deen Johnson, assistant professor at the State University of New York, Fredonia. She will address the topic of ?Expressions of Civil Religion in post 9-11 America.?

The multi-media presentation will be at 7 p.m. Monday, March 12 in the Wohlgemuth Music Education Center Lobby. It addresses how religion has been expressed in a sometimes political fashion following the attack in New York.

Johnson?s career in broadcasting began in 1981 at WHIL-FM in Mobile, Ala. During her career, she was an announcer, a music programmer, music director and station manager at public radio stations in Alabama, Arkansas and Florida.

She holds a doctorate from the University of Florida, a master?s degree in business administration from the University of West Florida and a degree in music from Florida State University.

The event is a collaborative effort of the Humanities Division and the Office of Academic Affairs.
