Cooperative Grain & Supply presented equal checks last week totaling $3,402 to food banks from three communities in which it has elevators: Canton, Hillsboro and Marion. The money is generated by the business?s participation in the ?Feeding our Communities? program sponsored by Land O?Lakes Foundation, which provides matching funds to encourage local cooperatives to donate to local food banks. This is the third year CG&S has participated in this program, but has been part of the Land O?Lakes Helping Rural Communities program since 2004, with more than $30,800 contributed since then to various local community programs. Individuals involved in the presentation Dec. 13 were (from left) Clifford Hett, a CG&S director; Kaye Steele from the Marion Food Bank; Seth Meyer from the Canton-Galva Ministerial Alliance; Mary Steketee and Leah Rose from Main Street Ministries in Hillsboro, and Jim Enns, chair of the CG&S board of directors.
