Centre freshmen fare well at districts

The Centre FFA freshmen traveled to Arkansas City to attend the South Central District FFA Greenhand Conference Sept. 19 to expand their interest and knowledge about FFA.

?The attending greenhands were required to take a test over topics including who the district, state and national FFA officers were as well as other FFA knowledge,? adviser Laura Klenda said.

CHS placed five members among the top 10 participants on the information test: Tabitha Oborny, first; Brenna Shields, third; Kailyn Riffe,l fourth; Cassidy Hill, fifth; and Dakota Stimpson, eighth.

Members attended breakout sessions on topics from FFA official dress to interacting with other members. The conference concluded with a keynote address from the National FFA Central Region vice president Wyatt DeJong of South Dakota.

Other attending were Justin Bina, Conner Montgomery, Mark Vinduska, Caleb Kristek, Jared Barney, Nellie Kassebaum, Callie Riffel, Shelby Makovec and Tia Jenkins.
