Centre FFA places 4th in district CDE



The Centre High School FFA Chapter hosted and participated in two career development events Oct. 5 in Hillsboro.

Centre?s A-team placed fourth in the South Central District Nursery and Landscape CDE.

Laura Klenda, FFA adviser and agricultural education instructor, said students were asked to identify nursery and landscape plants, take an exam over the information, and complete practicums on math, pest-disorders, tools and equipment and landscaping.

A-team members were Bryanna Svoboda, Makenzie Deines and Timothy Vinduska.

The freshman teams placed second and third. The second-place team included Brenna Shields, Dani Beck and Kailyn Riffel. The third-place team consisted of Shelby Makovec, Tia Jenkins and Callie Riffel.

The Centre A-team placed fourth in the South Central District Land Judging CDE. Team members were Tom Oborny, Shane Methvin, Kinsley Shoup and Jerami Slayden.

The event consisted of judging six pits dug from land provided by Cooperative Grain & Supply, Klenda said.

Seventeen Centre FFA members participated land-judging and nine in nursery-judging.

Placing in the freshman division were Justin Bina (second), Jared Barney (fourth) and Dakota Stimpson (eighth).
