Hillcrest Motel under new management

Daniel and Cynthia Draken are the new managers of the Hillcrest Motel on East D Street in Hillsboro.

The motel was sold by former owner Charles Hui Yang to ESC Properties, LLC.

The Drakens, who have 10 years of motel-management experience, have been making numerous improvements to the motel during their first few weeks on the job.

Hanschu receives J.D. Power award for service

Jayson Hanschu, an American Family Insurance agent in Hillsboro, has been recognized for customer satisfaction by J.D. Power and Associates.

The recognition was based on a two-part evaluation process: a survey of customers and an on-site evaluation based on review of customer needs, claims handling, positive customer contacts, responsiveness and office environment.

Hanschu has been an agent for American Family since September 1998.
