Hanschu receives AFI award for ag service

 

Jayson Hanschu of Hillsboro has received the Elite Farm/ Ranch Insurance Agent award from American Family Insurance. Hanschu has been an agent for American Family since September 1998.

?This is a tremendous honor when you consider there are more than 4,000 American Family Insurance agents,? said Chris McDonald, district sales manager for the company.

American Family ranks 323rd on the Fortune 500 list and is the nation?s third-largest mutual property/casualty insurance company.

 

Case & Son Insurance to mark 140th anniversary

 

Case & Son Insurance Inc., Marion, will mark the completion of its 140th year in business Friday, Jan. 25.

Alex E. Case received his first appointment as an insurance agent in Marion on Jan. 25, 1868. Twenty-five years later, son Rosse case joined the business and the company name was changed to ?Case & Son.?

Alex H. Case was a partner from 1920 until his death in 1981. Rosse B. Case and Alex Case Jr. became partners in 1955. Alex Case Jr. died in 2001, while Rosse B. Case is retired, but still active in the agency.

Alex H. ?Casey? Case, the fifth generation, joined the firm in 1988 and is president of the corporation. Lori Freuchting is employed as a full-time licensed certified insurance representative.

The business is located at its original address, 220 E. Main, making it the oldest insurance agency in the state of Kansas to operate continuously in the same location and under the same name.
