Bodiford receives welcome home from family and American Legion Post 366

American Legion Post 366 Commander Dick Carr, standing at left, welcomes U.S. Army Spec. Michael Allen Bodiford, standing left, home during a welcome home celebration Saturday, Sept. 11, in Hillsboro. Kneeling at left is Wayne Friesen and right is Terry Camp, holding the ceremonial welcome home flag signed by American Legion members. Bodiford, along with his mother, Kelly Schlehuber, and other family were escorted to the local post by American Legion Riders as part of the ceremony. He was also presented a challenge coin, certificate of appreciation and one-year membership at Post 366. Bodiford had been stationed in Fort Wainwright, Alaska, served one year in Iraq and was awarded his combat medal during Operation Iraqi freedom 2008-09 in the Diyala Province. He is a 2006 Hillsboro High School graduate and, following an honorable discharge after four years of service, is enrolled as a full-time student at Cowley County Community College, majoring in business.
